What qualifies as "referrals to other forums of a similar nature"?

Can I reference a forum for, say, a specific resort on Cayman (no link obviously), or would that be a "forum of a similar nature"? I would think that it wouldn't be since it wouldn't be a forum for a competing advertising publication, but I've been wrong before.

I want to follow both the letter and the spirit of the TOS, so if Mr. Joe or a mod could chime in, I sure would appreciate it.

My understanding is that you cannot refer to a forum that is a direct competitor of the CAG or of an establishment that is a non-advertiser.

Jpep might be able to give a better explaination than me...afterall it is what he does for a living! Wink

Feel free to PM me with the specific site and I will let you know.

billinwilliamst,

Thanks for your inquiry regarding the TOS. It appears you are referring to a portion of the TOS quoted below:

Quote:
Please note that advertisements or solicitations of ANY kind are not allowed unless given express permission to do so by an administrator. SPAM, Chain letters, pyramid schemes, Coupon Schemes, referrals to other forums of a similar nature and other types of solicitations are inappropriate on this forum. Any abuses of these rules may subject your post to being edited or deleted at our discretion without warning or explanation and membership can be subject to revocation.

Given the full context of the quoted passage, and the TOS portions excerpted below, I would agree with Kim's answer.

However, I'd also direct your attention to the following for additional clarification:

Quote:
Any endorsements for non-Activity Guide approved advertisers are to be limited to a single brief mention of a favorable experience. Repeatedly recommending anyone not already approved by the Editor is strictly prohibited. If you feel you know of a tourist-related activity in the Cayman Islands that is not receiving proper attention on this message board you are urged to contact the appropriate individual within that organization and ask them to contact Activity Guide Magazine for consideration of endorsing their product or service. These rules are unconditional and there will be no exceptions made under any circumstances. Failure to comply by repeatedly recommending or endorsing non-approved Cayman Activity Guide sponsors will result in your loss of posting privileges.

Quote:
If there is information on another site which you feel would be of value to our members, please post it here (with permission, when applicable) or PM the administrator and ask for the information to be included. In most cases, everything will be done to include your request as quickly as possible. Under no circumstances will links to outside sites be permitted.

The underlying policy considerations for limiting repeated endorsments of non-approved service providers is to protect both our members and CAG.

Should you have any additional questions, feel free to ask!
