I am planning a vacation for my family with two young men 18 and 21 yo. I would like to be located somewhere that is not too flashy, expensive or noisy but at the same time somewhere my kids can off by themselves by day or especially night for clubs, bars, discos etc. Since they are not old enough to drive a rental car, I would like to be located so they can walk, bus or taxi for night life. The parents like to snorkel, so my thought is somewhere along 7 mile beach. I have never been to GCM before, so any advice would be appreciated. Also, I am looking for a place to stay, which could be either a two bedroom suite "(probably not 1br with pullout but possible) or individual rooms. The boys require single beds, they don't like to share even a queen sized bed.

Thanks for your help,

Rolatzi

rolatzi -

WELCOME TO THE FORUM!

I would highly recommend staying on Seven Mile Beach if you want more activities for day & night for your boys. You might want to consider renting a condo for your stay - it has more room and will have a kitchen to help save on some of the meals out.

Treasure Island is a very reasonable condo on the southern end of SMB...they have some amenitites of a hotel like a swim up bar in the pool and volleyball nets on the beach. Great snorkeling from the beach.

You could look at Comfort Suites 2 bedroom suite - however I do not believe they have single beds in the units for the boys. Or you could check Hyatt Suites for more bedrooms. I have not stayed at the Hyatt, but have heard wonderful reviews!

You can also do a condo search by clicking the "hotel search" button at the top of the page. This will help you look at condos in different price ranges. Cayman Villas is a great resource as well and would have more options for you.

Good luck!

When I first read your post, I immediately thought of Treasure Island Condos. The boys would like the atmosphere at the condos (swim up pools etc.), plus they could easily walk into town or out to the clubs. I stayed there ( the hotel which is no longer open, not the condos) many times without a car and got around just fine on foot. On recent trips I have been staying at Comfort Suites which is about a two minute walk from Treasure Island, so both places are just as convenient. Good luck, the boys will love Cayman!

I too believe 7 mile Beach is the best choice, if the boys will be going out and about on there own without a car. Plenty of activities day and night to keep them occupied like seaworld explorer adventures underwater boat ride in georgetown. If you are renting a car I would suggest Cayman Kayaks or a run up to Rum point.

Definitely check out the Hotel Search Button and look for availability for the dates you are planning. Whether condo or hotel I am sure you all will have a fabulous time.

Here are our MUST DO's

Having travelled to Cayman for several years with our teenage and now twenty-something niece I can tell you that there are plenty of late night spots they will enjoy along southern 7-Mile Beach. We stay at Treasure Island and it is just a short walk to clubs like O-bar, Next Level, Matrix, etc. All are dance clubs that will probably keep them sleeping in till noon if your experience is anything like ours - teenagers!!
