that's unbelievably horrible.......how someone can DO something like that or even THINK of doing something like that is beyond me............hope they're found and put in jail where they belong.

Those sick scumbags need to be dealt with severely!

What is being done to find out who did it?

Anyone know what the penalty is if they are caught? Hopefully its a lot more than some slap on the wrist.

does anyone know how many baby iguanas are born (hatched?) at the Botanical Gardens in an average year?

This makes me sick just reading about it.......just reviewed our pictures from the Botanic garden and I am still amazed at the pictures of those iguanas.....why in the world someone would do this is beyond me.....as you can tell, I did not follow any news while we were on the island.

Its simply a tragedy that there are some people out there that are able to do such horrible acts such as this. I just wish we lived in a better world for the sake of our children today. My son has lizards and iguanas as pets. I could never tell him this kind of news it would just break his heart. What a shame...

Anyone know if there is an update? We even bought the t-shirts when we visited the garden and I'm glad we did.......actions like this make me so po'd......... Twisted Evil

If you are looking for updates on the investigation, I guess I would just watch our news ticker as it flows by at the top of this page. I'm sure as soon as there is something to report, there will be an article in one of the newspapers. Our ticker feeds us the articles from the Cayman Net News.

Some people might be wondering about how to make a donation to the cause, and so I thought I'd post what I have found out. The National Trust of the Cayman Islands is one of the partners who works with the Blue Iguana Recovery Programme to ensure the survival of the endangered blue iguanas. Of course, no one could have ever anticipated this brutal attack and, so of course, this has set the program back considerably. Anyway, there are many people and companies on the island that have come forward, wanting to put up a reward, and the National Trust is the agency that is collecting those pledges. I believe that they already have pledges of over CI$10,000.

We don't usually post outside links, but I hope that Joe won't mind if I post the one that gives you the opportunity to donate to the Blue Iguana Recovery Programme, either to add to the reward or to help with the added costs of dealing with this tragedy. Thanks Char. I actually get the news delievered to my E-mail address everyday and I will watch for updates.

We also purchased a couple of t-shirts while at the garden....just a little pricey but I know the proceeds go for a good cause. I'm really happy we bought them. I believe once they are gone, they are gone and they won't be making any more.

I do too.......I read the article in the Cayman news about the ones that survived......breaks my heart. crying

We enjoyed watching the iguanas at the garden.

Does anyone know if they found out who is responsible yet? Last I heard they were saying maybe dogs got them.
