My mother and my mother-in-law have each asked separately in the last week if we will be going to Cayman next year! spin How can we disappoint them?? It will certainly be a new kind of trip with an additional little one, but I think we can handle it. Wink Be prepared for another long trip report!

Anyone have a good idea for accommodations for 8 adults and 3 little guys 5 & under? We may have two extras this year. If not, I know where we will be staying.

Edit: Title changed for clarity - Joe

Isn't it nice having the grandparents along? a little babysitting duty to give you a little time off.

Have you ever thought about renting a house through Cayman villas? You might find more space that way----or do you take several condos. They have a CAG discount and have condos and houses. We usually rent 2 condos when our daughter and grandkids come down...but we only have 5 adults and 2 kids----11 people--that's a big group. a 3 BR and a 2 br condo?

That's a good idea Shelly. idea

With that many people renting a house from Cayman Villas would probably be the best idea.

Or choose any of the condos from our Hotel Search and arrange mulitple rooms.

Either way, it?s going to be a great vacation Haltom. Very Happy

shelly,

Having grandparents along is imperative! Especially with our soon-to-be third boy! Last year we were able to do a 3br 2ba condo with 6 adults and the two little ones. The kids floated between bedrooms like a new sleepover every night. My sister may join us this time, though. We would either do 2 condos or a house.

We loved TI, and loved the price, too! We looked at houses a bit last time, but the price was above what we wanted to pay.

We still have a lot of time to go before the trip, but we have a few big events coming up between now and then. Last year we had to book our flights in August for our April/May trip. Two of the pairs were using rewards miles on two different airlines, and we had to do it that far ahead to get the timing right. I will be sleep deprived by that point, so I might want to get the ball rolling now!

Thanks, Joe. It is always a great vacation. I can't tell you how much I am missing it RIGHT NOW! What I wouldn't do for a day of snorkeling and a few orders of conch fritters! crying Looks like I'll have to wait a bit for our hotel search. Our dates aren't really firm yet, but I was going to try to get an idea for the going rate at several spots. You can't look that far ahead on the hotel search feature, so I'll try to be patient.

Our top priorities would be great snorkeling right outside the accomodations, a wonderful view (but how could you mess that up in Cayman?), and that's about it! If anyone has a lead for now, let me know!

haltom - If snorkeling conditions directly in front of your condo is your highest priority you should consider Grandview or Treasure Island. You will find them in our Hotel Search with links to their corresponding photos, reviews and details. Both of these properties offer a pretty good discount for being an Activity Guide member. Wink

I don't know if you would be interested in this, but I know that the Shangri-la Bed and Breakfast rent out the whole house. Another place to check is *******

But it's not on the beach and I think with little kiddies, the beach is much better than just a pool--at least that's what I think. The little kids can play on the beach, but in a pool they need a lot more monitoring. To have both options is the best, but-------

Beach is definitely preferable for us. The kids like to look for critters and play at the edge. We had a great kiddie pool at TI, but we really only used it a handful of times. My step-dad wants the pool more than the kids!

That's the end of the beach we've always stayed on and loved. The whole group was amazed by our condo at TI. It couldn't have been more perfect. However, since we will now be traveling with a not yet one year old, sandier beach conditions might not be bad either. We would be open to trying something more north on 7MB - by Governor's Beach or Cemetery. I like the snorkeling there, too! Come to think of it, I like the snorkeling everywhere. Mr. Green

I'll be on the lookout.

Joe,

We've stayed at the Comfort Suites before, but this next time around we will have 9 of us.(4 kids) Would it be more affordable to stay there or a condo?

tracya,

If you wanted to see how the rates compared, you could do he hotel search and put in June dates for 2008. The rates might not be exactly the same next year, but it should give you an idea.

haltom,

Which condos would you recommend, suited for 9 people? For comparison...

Thanks,

Tracy

tracy,

If you click the hotel search button in the upper right corner, it will show you a list of accommodations. Most of them give an approximate amount in the description, but you can go ahead and send them a note if you want to verify anything. CaymanVillas is on there, too. I believe they will search several places for you.
