Hi,

I usually go to Aruba every year and I love it. I have never been to the Cayman islands but we are looking at going some time this winter/spring. There are a couple different options we can choose from through the timeshare exchange/getaway but I have a couple concerns. As usual, when I did reviews on the places I find some people loved it and some people absolutely hated the resort. I try not to take these too seriously because the resort I stayed at in Aruba had a lot of bad reviews and I would stay there every year if I could.

My other concern is what I love about Aruba is that the water is crystal clear. I have read a lot about turtle grass in the water in Grand Cayman. Is this only at certain resorts.

The resort options I have right now are The Reef Resort, The Grand Caymanian and the Pelican Resort Club. It doesn't sound like any of these are directly on Seven Mile Beach. Should we wait and try to find a resort right on that beach? Any thoughts or suggestions?

Joann

Hi Joann71 - Welcome to our forums.

With a timeshare exchange your options are extremely limited. The only one I know of on Seven Mile Beach is SMB Resort.

My recommendation is to use your timeshare exchange for a different island and stay at one of our recommended properties when you visit the Cayman Islands, all of which are located in our Hotel Search.

Welcome and glad you found this site......it helped me immensely last year.

We also have been to Aruba and we love it too. Do not be concerned about the water in GC......it is even more clean than the water in Aruba.

Although there are some very nice beaches, you will not find all the beaches to be as nice as Aruba.

Some are iron shore but there are so many great places for snorkeling.....the only place we saw turtle grass was Starfish Beach....we did not let that little bit of grass bother us.......we went to see the Starfish, which I've never seen on Aruba.....they were wonderful.

Hopefully you can rent a car and drive around the island......it's very easy like Aruba and very safe........the drinking water is also the same as Aruba, so no worries there.

I cannot help you with your resort question...I am new to GC and there are many good people here that have a wealth of knowledge....Joe just gave you some very good advice.

May I suggest checking out the trip report section......there are awesome pictures there.

Hope this helps.......just go and have a wonderful time. We're going for our second visit. dance1 rockbed Mr. Green Mr. Green
