It looks like there is a large construction crane near Georgetown harbor when looking south from the Reef Grill webcam. Anyone have any ideas what is being built?

Yep, that's the crane they use at the port to load and unload cargo.

Guess I didn't remember the crane being so big. Thanks for the quick feedback JKman and NorthSideSue.

Hi,

Just wanted to report that the big crane in the stuck web cam picture is actually NOT in the harbor as most of us thought.........it is at the construction site of the new condo property being built in place of the old Turtle Beach Condos (which collapsed due to Ivan). That property sits between Tamarind Bay and Plantation Village....right smack in front of Comfort Suites (Yikes!).

edited to correct my mistake! It's between Tamarind Bay and the Marriott, NOT Plantation Village - duh!

The building is well under way, but doesn't look like it will be done for a few more months......noise didn't seem TOOO bad.....

Char

Hi Char,

Welcome home. Hope you had a fantastic trip! Thanks for the feed back on the crane. Probably another Brian Butler property?

Yes, it is a Brian Butler property. I knew that from last year. The crane is just north of Tamarind Bay, in front of Comfort Suites and south of the Marriott. I've heard they are working on the roof primarily and so the noise is minimal. I will let you all know in a week and a 1/2.

gd,

Thanks for the welcome home! I guess it's good to be home, but I sure didn't want to leave yesterday! It was just a wonderful two weeks and I can't wait to share some stories and pictures with everyone....maybe in the next couple of days!

Kim,

Oops! Since I'm the one who gave you the inside info on the construction of that new condo, I have to correct myself. I didn't mean to say that they were primarily working on the roof. I just meant to say that they were working on the roof, meaning that they had stopped adding floors. There is still a TON of work to do......there are no outside walls yet or anything.....but, nevertheless,I really don't think there was much noise with whatever they were working on.

Char
