Many places are easy to walk to/from. We like going down the beach to the Royal Palm in the evening and perhaps stopping at the Marriott and Stingers (Comfort Suites) on the way back. No driving necessary. The later it gets, though the more walking we do close to the water where the sand is firmer and is easier to stroll after a few rum punches. No driving needed. If I were staying at Turtle Nest Inn, I would most likely enjoy dinner out and then have a few cocktails back home as the sunsets.

p.s. There is some great snorkeling around Boddentown - and the water there is almost always calm even when western side is a bit wavy stormy. At least that's been my experience.

This thread made me realize something, I don't think I've ever seen a police officer or police car on Grand Cayman...... If they are around they are very stealthy!

Returning from Rum Point to 7MB last week we experienced a car that was tailgating us as we approached Bodden Town. When I slowed and pulled to the left the car passed us on a turn and was immediately pulled over by a patrol car that was quite stealthfully hidden off the road clapping I wasn't driving unreasonably slow, in fact I think I was probably speeding a little myself but my point is the patrol cars keep an eye out for unsafe driving (as they should). This was also Easter weekend when almost all Caymanians head to the beach for a long standing tradition of Easter beach camping, and the patrol cars were out in force!

I've seen roadside checks there before not sure if it was a weekend or holiday, or standard procedure, but I do know they take DUI very seriously. Can't find a source to quote, but I believe even first offenders get huge fines and jail time.

I don't drive if Im drunk, that's what my wife is for! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Seriously though, would anyone want to visit any place that was known for being lenient with drunk drivers?
