My wife and I are coming to Grand Cayman in August. We have found two places that we like, Treasure Island and White Sands. Has anyone stayed at these places and how are they? Also we are trying to work off of a budget. We are not going to dive as we are not certified. We would like to snorkle, visit some of the local attractions, and probably eat out only once a day. Is 1000.00 to 1500.00 enough spending money? I appreciate any help.

Maybe......Do you just want a quickie diving thing or do you want to get certified? How long are you staying? Are you renting a car? Do you want to eat fancy?. No disrespect intended, but that is like my wife asking "I am going shopping, do I have enought money". Rule of thumb, take 2x the money and 1/2 the clothes.

Have fun!

Rick

Our trip will be seven days and it is not our intention to get certified to dive. I dont know if there is diving available for people who are not certified. We will rent a car most likely and as far as dinner goes we are not really into real fancy dining. Just a decent diner. Thanks for the advice boss!

We stayed at Treasure Island last April and loved it. We had a 3 bedroom and our balcony overlooked the ocean. We like the location, and we really like the snorkeling right outside our door. We also like the snorkeling in lots of other spots, so we did have a car for our visit.

We traveled with our two young kids, my parents, and my husband's parents. We split most of the costs. We stayed 8 nights. I assume your budget is not including your accommodations. We (my husband, me, and the two little ones) were able to get by on the low end of your budget. We didn't do any fancy restaurants, but we did do Macabuca for lunch. We did a trip on the submarine for all 4 of us, the "dry" Turtle Farm option, a private tour to Stingray City, a kayak trip for one of us, and half the cost of a fishing trip. We didn't pinch our pennies, but we didn't do anything extravagant. If we add in our car charges, it would probably push us toward the middle of your budget. It can be done.

It...we are leaving on Saturday for our 4th visit to Grand Cayman. My wife and I have always brought the same amount that you are speaking of and we've always come home with a couple of hundred dollars. There are more than enough restaurants with reasonable prices and there are the high end restaurants for a one night "splurge!"

We don't dive and have a terrific time snorkeling.Diving I haven't stayed at either place you mentioned but I've driven past them many times and they look very nice. The key is getting there and just enjoying yourself.

You can have a great time with that budget.

IDM...you do the same! You will love GC!! I describe it with a paraphrase from the famous Field of Dreams line - "Is this heaven? No it's the Caymans!!"
