I am trying to find out what is in that big bare area of land just to the East of the North sound - there seems to be lots of development along the coast past Rum point and out to the Kaibo marina, but what is that vast expanse where there is nothing developed?

Also, we are looking at a couple of accommodation options - two in the Cayman Kai area, and a couple on the East End. We are meeting up with our son and friends who are sailing there, so wondering if one area is more suitable for mooring a small (34') sailboat.

We will be renting a car, so the distance from the airport isn't a big concern. Distance to some decent dining and maybe a bit of nightlife are more important.

I can see I'm going to be hooked on this site!!!

If you are looking at the area east of North Sound and south of Rum Point, it's mostly mangrove, wetlands, etc. No roads, no development. And that's a good thing.
