Black Pearl Skate and Wave Park

The world?s largest skate park and 11? surf wave are now open to visitors...

Located minutes from Seven Mile Beach with complete amenities, Cayman?s newest attraction offers something for everybody.

The 59,000-square-foot skating park is the largest in the world, with trannies as smooth as top-shelf rum with endless lines. There?s a snake run, extensions, pockets, hips, and lots of corners. Smaller bowled areas are four-feet deep, with the larger bowls opening up to 12-feet. There?s also a street section with ledges, rails, Euro-gaps, and a big three block, making this a park for everyone from street chompers to bowl trolls to mega-ramp blasters.

The wave machine pushes up to 150,000 gallons of fresh water up a slope. When the machine is at full volume it creates an 11-foot curl. A qualified operator adjusts the volume of water and height of the waves to the level of experience of each surfer.

There is a complete line of rental gear available at very reasonable rates for skating and surfing.

While the kids are skating and surfing, mom and dad can join in or watch the action from shaded table areas while enjoying their favorite food and beverages from Castaway?s Grille, one of Cayman?s most popular restaurants offering a delicious and diverse menu with all of your favorite alcoholic and soft beverages. Specializing in Caribbean influenced cuisine, they have a wood burning pizza oven and a huge selection of appetizers and fine dining entrees.

Right next door you will find a coffee shop and Davie Jones Locker, Cayman?s largest sports bar with dozens of giant screens, a life-size video game and a multi-sport virtual practice booth.

Whether you stop by for an hour or two on the way to East End or come for the entire day, don?t miss this opportunity to visit Cayman?s newest attraction. Combining all of the excitement and thrills of skating and surfing along with some of the best dining and largest sports bar on the island, this is a true must-do experience for sports enthusiasts, thrill seekers and anyone with youngsters ? or just the young at heart.

I wonder how the grand opening went yesterday... My kids would have loved to have seen Tony Hawk. Cool I hope this will be a nice clean well maintained addition to GC. At first I thought - why would anybody want to do that there? :? But the more I thought about it, I figured that even though it's not something I would do, I think it would be appealing to a lot of teens - twenties. Maybe there are places for old people like me to watch! Rolling Eyes

gardengirl - Funny you brought this up. We ate at Bamboo last night and met (briefly) Tony Hawk. Tiger Woods was here last week, but spent most of his time on a private yacht. Sad It must be tough being Tiger. Very Happy

Black Pearl is an amazing facility with the largest skating park in the world and a huge wave machine for surfing. I will be doing a complete review with pictures next week and will post everything. There is a whole little world surrounding that park with Castaways Grille, a bakery, Hurley's, many shops and stores; and the most elaborate and high-tech sports bar I have ever seen.

I was at the grand opening all day for Z99. I had a exclusive interview with Tony Hawk. It should be on the Z99 morning show this week sometime. I also got to host the ribbon cutting ceremony. A great crowd and a great park! For the record.. Tony is a great guy.

destinydog - Hurleys is a supermarket. If you are interested in the skate/wave park, print out the coupons from our coupon page first and catch a cab. If skating is your thing, you could spend all your brief time there with all there is to do. Wink

I guess you didn't read the write up. That is the biggest skate park in the world. I checked it out when I was there and it is as big as a small city! Nothing is free except air, and even that costs money if you dive rolllaugh I think there's a discount on it here for members so you can save some cash that way. Otherwise just go sit on the beach and drink tap water. That is free. rolllaugh rolllaugh rolllaugh rolllaugh rolllaugh

How much is the wave please? My 13 year old daughter thinks that it sounds cool. She also fancies trying skateboarding, but I'm not sure that grazes on knees, elbows and nose are the image that she wants on the beach and at Royal Palms! :-D
