Most of the ships sell a Cali snorkel trip - some call it a "wreck and reef" tour.

Here's a picture of the Cali site, about 50 yards away from shore. You could easily swim to that in about 30 seconds - a minute tops, if you are not a strong swimmer.

If you don't have your own gear, you can purchase a decent set of Mask/Fins/Snorkel online for around $75 and they would more than pay for themselves throughout all the stops on your cruise. The Cali is about a 5 minute walk and a 30 second swim from the cruise ship dock and it's absolutely FREE.

Be sure to bring along a dive flag to alert any passing boats to your position.

Bob7 - The only thing next to the Cali is Calico Jacks and they don't rent snorkel gear. Go to Eden Rock, about 100 yards from the dock and mention Activity Guide - they will take very good care of you. Wink

Be sure to pass by Paradise who have a misleading sign saying: Eden Rock. The real building is about 20 yards farther.

Hi Barb,

I'm not Joe but will help you out.... Eden Rock is just south of the docks, once you get your gear from them go back towards the docks and the Cali is a short distance north.... feel free to ask the folks at Eden Rock where it is and they will be happy to point you in the right direction.

Be sure to mention Activity Guide and have a great time!!

Jack

Thanks Jack,

But let me ask a question. We have been to GC 3 times. Did stingray city twice,Eden Rock once after stingray city, marriott this past October in the rain so we ate lunch at the Lobster Pot. We like to swim and snorkel but like a place to sit too. I see that there will be 6 ships in March 10th with us. Where will they take the passengers to swim? I would like to avoid any beach that has excursions. I read about Stingers. Would that be a good place to go? How far from the Marriott would that be? Thanks for your help. We just would like to enjoy the laid back feeling and relax.

Hello blyle,

To answer your question about which beaches the cruise ships send passengers to, I think the answer would be Royal Palms, Sea Grape Beach and probably Beach Colony Club (did I say that right?). It's next door to the Hyatt's beach.

Hey Joe Great Photo. How deep is it out there at the Cali? Just curious if we needed to take some floats out there with us. Still trying to figure this whole trip out. Sounds like i should have come to GCI instead of taking cruise. Anyway thanks for all the info here.
