Have never done anything like this before. 20+ women cruising Imagination to Grand Cayman & Jamacia. 12/8-13. Do you recommend renting snorkeling equip or purchasing & bringing along?

Welcome to the forum, kpnaasz Smile ,

Sounds like you're in for a fun "girl trip"! What a great idea!

To answer your question, it totally depends on how much snorkeling you intend to do on this trip and perhaps in the future, as to whether or not it would be worth buying your own equipment...........if you take shore excursions planned by the ship (which is highly recommended, if not mandatory, in Jamaica), then your snorkeling equipment will all be provided and included in the price of the excursion.

You definitely do not need to take ship arranged shore excursions in Grand Cayman, however, since it's very easy and safe to do all of that on your own (and MUCH cheaper!). I hope that you are planning to go to Stingray City while you are there, since it's definitely a once in a lifetime experience, and something you can't do anywhere else in the world. We highly recommend Soto's Cruises for this and they only take about 20 people at a time (it would be PERFECT for your group, but you'd need to contact them soon!). They also provide all the snorkeling equipment for "free".

Now, if you decide to go off and snorkel on your own on Grand Cayman, you can take the short walk from the cruise terminal to Eden Rock and rent the gear from them.......

I will say that many people prefer to buy their own snorkels at home and bring them along, rather than use the rental ones......but, supposedly they've all been disinfected between renters...

Have a great cruise!!

Char
