Fishing enthusiasts will be in extremely good hands with Captain Alvin at Oh Boy Charters. Alvin has been fishing in Cayman waters for over 20 years and is a SIXTH GENERATION fisherman. You will not find anyone with more experience and the tales he has to share will be as valuable as the fish you catch.

I'll be adding more to this topic as time permits but I wanted to get at least a few pictures posted with the contact information so anyone planning a fishing trip knows where to go for the best boat - A SIXTY FOOT YACHT, most experienced captain, superior service and of course an Activity Guide discount.

Be sure to get in touch with Alvin at Oh Boy at least a week before you arrive and let him know your desired fishing date and contact information. He will help get you more people to share the expenses if you want. Here's his email:

For something really amazing you could charter the yacht for an overnight fish/dive/snorkel trip to Little Cayman and Cayman Brac! Imagine waking up in the morning at a mooring ball on one of the best dive sites in the entire Caribbean. Have a nice fish and egg breakfast, prepared right on the boat with the fish you caught on the way over. Then do two of the most spectacular dives you've ever done in your life on Bloody Bay Wall! After that, troll along the way to Cayman Brac and dive the Kieth Tibbits shipwreck before cruising back to Grand Cayman. That would be something you would not soon forget. Very Happy

Here's a few pictures of a typical Oh Boy Charter day trip.

Joe,

I'm puzzled!

I sent an e-mail to Oh Boy Charters regarding a fishing trip we want to do in July, and referred to finding the name at Cayman Activity Guide.

They replied back promptly, but said they hadn't heard of CAG........

I wasn't necessarily asking for a discount, but since they are $100 over what another charter quoted for a half-day trip, it would have been nice!

Am I supposed to somehow link to them from this website--I may have done something wrong.

Please let me know your thoughts and if you really consider them to be the best--it's worth the extra money for a great trip.

satonthebeach - I'm even more confused that you. Confused

I am in frequent contact with Oh Boy and we are promoting them exclusively. Are you sure you used the correct email?

Please forward a copy of your reply to me:

I would like to see whose name is on the message so I can look into whatever it was that happened.

After a thorough check of every fishing operation on the island, there was no one with anywhere near the experience or quality of boat that offered a lower rate. Even far less equipped and comfortable boats are going for much higher rates. None of this makes any sense at all and I promise to get to the bottom of it as soon as I receive a copy of the email reply you received.

Hmmm, maybe in his email he mentioned "CAG" instead of spelling it out.... That's all I could think of.

Joe: The below text is the reply I received from Oh Boy Charters. As you can see, I used the full name of Cayman Activity Guide. The e-mail I sent it to is the one posted on Oh Boy's web site which goes to Jackie. This post will not allow me to post it online, so go to the website if you need to check it. Possibly there is another address you recommend????

Please help me solve this mystery! After seeing your post about this charter with the wonderful pictures and description of the boat, Capt. Alvin, etc.... I am strongly considering using this charte rather than the one I used on three previous trips to your lovely island.

Any information you can give would be most appreciated!

Yes that date is open as of now. It is $800.00 for a half day trip. That time of the day is open too as of now.

that it is recommmended on there.

Wait to hear from you

satonthebeach - I called Alvin and Jennifer is his sister, who was answering his email temporarily and was not made aware of our arrangement. The confusion lies in the variables. They offer half and full day private and semi private charters on two different boats. A half day private charter on their custom 60 foot yacht will cost $800, less your 10% Activity Guide discount. A 1/2 day share charter on their smaller boat would only run a couple hundred dollars. Oh Boy offers every possible option and the very best prices and that's why I selected them. I would encourage you to contact them again and give them a range of dates that you want to fish when you are here and they will try to arrange a shared boat option, which will be the least expensive.

Thanks, Joe.

I was wondering if I was doing something wrong!

I will re-contact them next week and arrange the best charter for our family. It sounds like a very well-run operation.

Joe,

Do you know if these guys do reef fishing as well? I can't handle the open water of deep sea fishing so my hubby and I usually try to compromise with some reef fishing when we travel.

I'd like to combine fishing and snorkeling if I can without too big of a price tag.

Thanks,

Debbie

Hi dgreenwoodnh - Give Alvin a call when you get here and tell him you want to do a little reef fishing. If he can't take you himself he will probably put you in touch with someone who can.
