Portofino
Extremely popular East End seaside restaurant with delicious local cuisine, seafood and one of the lowest priced Sunday Brunch deals on the island. Situated directly on the ocean overlooking the wreck of the Ten Sails, this picturesque Caymanian style dwelling offers all of the charm, warmth and local cuisine you could possibly imagine.

Contact information:
Phone: 345-947-2700

If you are making a reservation for their Sunday Brunch, be sure to mention that you will be bringing your Cayman Activity Guide discount coupon Wink

There are many seating options both inside and out, all with magnificent ocean views.

Their rear deck area overlooks the legendary Wreck of the Ten Sails.

No matter where you sit, there are breathtaking ocean views.

On Sunday they offer a fabulous brunch buffet for only $19 with the Activity Guide coupon. We got there just as it was closing down so I guess we're just going to have to go back and take some more pictures. Very Happy

this is such a WONDERFUL restaurant.......particulary for any of you staying at the Reef Resort! It's only a short 15 minutes down the road and we NEVER EVER miss a dinner here, at least one night! Romantic, but casual with delicious food and wonderful service!

Celine.......hungry just thinking about it! Very Happy

Celine,

You must drive pretty slow if it takes you 15 minutes to get there from the Reef. Do you stop for some rum on the way?

:-D very funny rolllaugh ..........actually I usually get yelled at for UNDERestimating travel time and so now try to do worst case scenario travel times.............I HONESTLY have to make a definite effort to even NOTICE the time in Cayman........I'm always so busy looking at the ocean or the palms or the flowers or the homes or the people or the chickens or the children heading off to school, or bicycles on the road or crabs crossing...... :-D though that idea of rum on the way to the restaurant is a good one RedRolling for the non-drivers only!

We stayed at the Reef Resort the same week as Celine last June. It was the first time we had been to Portofino's for dinner but it was so good we went twice. I clipped the following from my trip report -

Quote:
We decide on Portofino's for dinner tonight. It is our first time there. They bring us a wonderful warm plate of bruschetta and a basket of garlic bread too. After very good spinach salads, Kelly gets chicken parmesan, Malc a Salmon and shrimp special. I'm getting the pasta special, "black fettuccini". It has sweet chunks of lobster, shrimp, scallops and pieces of tender salmon in a wonderful lobster sauce. Very Very good. This is living.

Last night's dinner at Portofino. ? I had another wonderful Pasta Special with Garlicky Shrimp. Malcolm had a Baked Seafood special. Kelly had Shrimp Cocktail and Satay Beef Appetizers for dinner.

It doesn't really matter where I stay on the island next time - I know I will be making a trip to Portofino's. The food was incredible and the service top notch. I give it 5 starfish. Smile

I guess it depends where you are. I have never eaten at either of those places, but I can tell you that they're at opposite ends of the island! Hope that was of some help!

We are at the Eastend so Potofinos is closest but if there was a huge difference I wouldnt mind driving down to the other side, perhaps mix it with a few other things down there.

Need advice please...........which restaurant, Lighthouse or Portofino's for Sunday brunch?

Does anyone know what food is available at either one? Wouldn't care usually, but bringing 4 guests and want them to see the differences.

We're going to both for dinner during the week, to cover both bases however! dine

Celine - Lighthouse does not offer a buffet-style Sunday brunch, everything is a-la-carte. I think Portofino offers more what you are looking for with an all-you-can-eat Caribbean style buffet, complete with carving station. At about $20 with the Activity Guide coupon, it's one of the best priced Sunday brunch offerings on the island. Wink
