I've read where cameras are a good deal on GC. I'm thinking of buying an underwater camera. How much do they run and where would be the best place to look?

I'm not happy with the Kodak one time use underwater cameras.

Yes, I have also heard that cameras are a good deal on GC. I think it's because they are not subject to import duty when coming into the island, so that savings is passed on to the customer.

Anyway, the very best place to go to look at and learn about underwater photography is Cathy Church's gallery - check it out -

She is an amazing underwater photographer and I believe that if you buy a camera from her, she'll teach you all about it and help you critique your pictures or whatever during your vacation, making sure you know how to use it properly.

There is a discout coupon in the Activity Guide worth 20% off on a rental of an underwater camera, and/or 10% off on instruction from the staff there. Like I said, though, if you buy a camera from them, I think a lot of that instruction is included. Maybe you should consider just renting a camera from them and seeing if it's the right one for you before actually buying one.

As far as cost goes, I imagine that with the housing, you'd be spending at least $500.

Char

Thanks Char. LOL Don't think I'll be purchasing an underwater camera. That's quite a bit of money for something I would only use once a year. I sent her an E-mail inquiring about renting.

I bought an underwater case for my Nikon on ebay for about $20.00. If you are careful, you can usually find one cheap. Just don't get one of the universal ones that look like a zip-lock bag.

I have a Canon S3 and I don't think a case can be purchased for that. It would be great if I could.........love the camera. Camera
