I know there were many different snorkel spots one could get to on their own by car and I don't remember them.

Could someone tell me the best places.........I know, I'm lazy.......just don't feel like doing a ton of research.

Oh, Cemetery Beach is one that will NOT be on our list..........been there done that........if you remember my report from last year. BouncingLaugh BouncingLaugh BouncingLaugh

Yup, I remember spin You're not going to live on the edge and tempt fate again?

Good to see you going to Grand Cayman again, instead of Curacao. We almost ended up going to Barbados. We'll probably go there next, but I had too strong of a longing for Cayman and teh Mrs agreed. Smile

I'm glad you decided to go back to Cayman this year! Good decision!

As far as snorkel spots go, some of the usual ones are Eden Rock (on light cruise ship days) and Smith Cove. Many people have mentioned the public beach up on the North Side......just before you get to Rum Point. I haven't snorkeled there in years, but it is a nice spot, as I remember.

However, I also highly recommend Turtle Reef at the Cracked Conch. The dive shop there is a brand new operation, and they will help you with all your snorkeling needs as well. It's just a great location, with the Macabuca Tiki Bar and Grill right there.......read about it here

Have fun with your planning!

ds,

We looked at Barbados early on........it too is another place where the prices have gone up a lot..........and no.............I will not live on the edge and tempt fate again......... rolllaugh rolllaugh rolllaugh .......once was enough for me.

Char,

Thanks for the link.........when we ate at the Cracked Conch, we were watching the divers.......didn't realize that was a good spot for snorkeling.

I am excited about returning........even have seats 12 A & B on the way in and seats 8 A & B for the return flight. Wink Wink

Flying US Airways and switching in Charlotte this year......lucked out and don't have to do the dreaded Miami connection.

Hi knees!

It's out east, if you look at the map its by the south east corner of the island, south of the Reef and Morrits, I know what you mean by doing things you did not get to do last time........I have a small list myself..hehehehe, I'm looking forward to trying Guy Harvey's new place

Actually knees it is not the beach at Cayman Kai......but the one closer to Rum Point, (go figure, but that's what it's called) you actually pass it before you make the left to head tword Starfish beach.

Hi knees,

This will be my 3rd trip to the island......Batabano is carnival, like in Rio, or Mardis Gras in New Orleans, you can see some pics in my trip report from last year, usually before Ash Wednesday, they all celebrate and party in the streets, flamboyant costumes and parades, plenty of dancing, live music, and celebrating, definitely an experience not to be missed if you like that sort of thing, I personally found it very enjoyable, however I certainly had my fill after a several hours.
