Will be in Grand Cayman Dec21-25?

Sotos or Oh Boy for smaller crowds?

Oh Boy seems to do 3 stops and Sotos seems that they are NOT doing the reef. Any suggestions?

Oops! Looks like we didn't give jsf an answer to this question before they headed down to Cayman. Hopefully, whichever outfit they chose for their Sting Ray City trip worked out well for them!

In case others may be reading this post who have the same thoughts and questions, I'll just say that you can be assured that you will have small crowds with EITHER Oh Boy or Soto's. No worries there.

The trips they offer are a bit different, so you would just need to choose the one that works out with your schedule and particular situation. Soto's Stingray City trips are two hours long and Oh Boy's are three hours (although they do run two hour trips just for cruise ship passengers). Soto's two hour trips go to Stingray City and the second stop is at the Coral Gardens, whereas the Oh Boy three hour trip does go to a third stop, which is the barrier reef.

Oh Boy Charters also offers all day snorkel trips which includes lunch.

So there are lots of options, depending on how much you want to spend or how much time you have. The main thing that the two operations have in common, though, is that you will not be crammed on a boat with a ton of people and you can count on receiving lots of personal service.

Hopefully, jsf will check in with us upon their return and tell us which one they chose and how it worked out.

Char

Thanks for your reply. Ended up with Soto's...they were fantastic. Another family evidently cancelled and we were only family on the boat. Many operators may have cancelled on us, not real profitable going with 4 people, but Soto's and the crew, Capt Billy and Ormand more than fulfilled our expectations.

NO QUESTION...next time we visit, we will call Kerry at Soto's.

I hope you don't mind me asking a question on this thread.

I will be on Grand Cayman (group of 4) 01/28/07 thru 02/02. I called Bob Soto's about SRC and was informed they don't operate out of Grand Cayman at this time.

Do they or not? Maybe I didn't communicate my plans clearly.

thanks

Hi bluff wave ,

Every question is valid, no matter where you post it.

When we refer to Soto's, we are referring to a company called Soto's Cruises, who does the Sting Ray City snorkeling trips. Not to be confused with Bob Soto's which used to be a very fine dive operation which is no longer operating in Grand Cayman. They did not reopen after Hurricane Ivan.

Here is a link to a thread on Soto's cruises which will give you the correct contact information -
