Based on the information I have seen in this forum, riding a moped during the busy time is not a recommended activity. Is the week starting June 15 a busy time on the Island? I will be staying at the Morritts resort on the quiet side of the Island.....is this safer for riding a moped? Any input from people that have been to the Island would be appreciated. I would love to take a moped over the entire Island, but if it is not advisable, I guess I will just go in a regular vehicle. Thank you for your input.

Well it's not busy over at Morritts, but if you are going anywhere else, like Seven Mile Beach, or over to West Bay it gets very busy. It's quite a long ride too. Considering it's such a small island, you'd think you'd get everywhere quickly, but that is not the case. Driving on the left confuses some people too---so safety issues also!

I've managed to keep our son from renting a scooter so far, but he keeps threatening.

Hawaiidude, I don't see why you couldn't ride a moped around the island. Out on the east end and by Rum Point it would be really nice to ride a moped. Not much traffic. I don't know if mopeds are suppose to be ridden on the side of the street or with the traffic, but I would say as long as you're careful when driving in traffic you would be fine. When we were there in March, many of the locals ride on bicycles and I think that is much more dangerous. It is about a 45 minute drive from the far east end to 7MB, but there are places where you could pull off to the side of the road to rest or enjoy the scenery. Just my opinion.
