Hi all. Excellent site here. Been thinking about visiting Grand Cayman for my last week of vacation this year. If I can swing it, it's going to be either the first or second week in October. The only thing that worries me is that other sites list October as one of the months in hurricane season. I know you can't predict the weather but I'm just wondering if the locals or frequent visitors can give me some insight on what the month of October is usually like down there. I don't want a vacation in paradise getting ruined by mother nature if I go. Thanks for your help. ThumbsUp

Welcome Dude!!!

Rainfall is seasonal, from May to November, with May/June and September/October typically being the wettest months so you would be getting in on the tail end of the season.... although, the wet weather is usually tropical thunderstorms that come by and leave rather quickly, and while one side of the island could be getting wet, the other could be dry and sunny!!

You are correct, hurricane season is June thru November so there is a remote possibility of activity in October.... keep in mind that Grand Cayman celebrates Pirate Week at the end of October which is a huge festival!.... If the locals have their biggest party in October, the weather must not be a factor...

When you book your trip take advantage of the great deals on accommodations for being an Activity Guide member.... you can find them here:

I'm reluctant to ever comment on the weather because it seems as soon as I say something, the opposite happens. Razz

There is no time of year in any destination where you are assured of perfect weather. I planned my last two snow-ski trips during a time of year when warm weather was virtually assured. Both times, it was too cold and windy to ski. Maybe it's just me. Confused

No matter where you are going I would plan on coming at whatever time is best suited to your personal itinerary and hope for the best as far as weather is concerned. In general, October is a great time to visit. It's not crowded, rates are low and the weather is generally in the 90s with any rain being hard but usually brief - unless there is a tropical development in the immediate area.

Thanks for the replies. I think I'll take a chance on the weather anyway. Just requested some rates through the activity guide hotel search to get the wheels in motion.

When in doubt, head over to Rum Point. The flat sandy bottom frequently is warmer than 7 mile beach. But anything over 78 is fine with me.

Joe, I love the RP webcam. The only thing different I could wish for was another camera in the bar area after night. So we could check out the happenings.

Lord can you tell I am bored here in Orlandotucky!!!! Parrot

Planning a trip at the end of October. Since October is one of the rainest months, can you tell me if we can expect everyday, allday rain or what? I know you can't predict weather but don't mind rain a little in the day if part of the day you can snorkle as that is what we are going for. Thanks, Jan

Hi ejdick, welcome....

You will typically get passing rain showers, only occasionally does an all-day rain occur.... A lot of times when it is raining on one side of the island it is clear on the other, so you can find a place to snorkel in the sunshine...

Let me check my crystal ball... only kidding!!! October is one of the wetter months, but by no means will it rain constantly. You may get a shower from time to time, but for the most part, you should have wonderful weather. Rain in the Caribbean is usually of an on again, off again nature, and I wouldn't let the forecast bother you or your plans at all. You wouldn't want to miss all the beauty of Grand Cayman for a weather forecast. Right now, it's not raining; its partly cloudy, 81 degress with a slight breeze fron the SSE. Hope this helps!!! ThumbsUp

Welcome to the forum, horsegirl182 Smile ,

I moved your question about the weather in October into this thread where other people have expressed concerns about the same thing.....be sure to start at the beginning of the thread and read all the posts.

If you're ever concerned about how the weather is right at this minute, just look at the Royal Palms Live Webcam in the upper left of every page......it's usually beautiful, and I know I just can't take my eyes off of it......always wishing I was there.

Please activate your trip countdown in your profile when you get a chance Wink .

I'm at 7 MB right now, 4 days into my trip, what Joe says about the weather is totaly true. This is the first day out of 4 that it hasn't rained, and the weather has been absolutely georges the entire time. It poured here last Thursday night around 9 o'clock, with most beautiful lightning storm out in the Sea for a couple of hours before the rain as we dined outside. When the rain hit I was ready for bed after partaking in too much food and beverages at Spanish Bay Reef Resort anyways. The next day we woke up to sunshine, around noon it rained for about a half hour and the sun was out again. Everyday has been like that and no problem at all. I didn't think I would ever say this, but at times it was so hot and sunny I couldn't wait for the clouds and rain to roll in and cool things off, I was actually hoping for rain and cloud!

Too sum it up, the weather here is great, even with some rain, it never rains all day here unless there is a tropical depression. and none in sight right now.
