I have traveled to the Island before. Last year was over Thanksgiving and it rained all but one day and was not good for beaching. We still had a great time, but am wondering if a little later will be better. I know the rain usually passes quickly but, in November 2006 it did not. Are my chances any better in mid-December?

hi igem100

we are usually in cayman over christmas and new years for 2 weeks and this year we were there for 3 weeks beginning Dec. 16th. The weather this year was terrific. The weather usually is great. In the 30+ years that we have been going, we have only had a couple of years that the weather was less than spectacular....but on the whole aside from the brief rains it's fine! Occasionally there are northwesters and the water might be rough for a few days--(but our kids always loved jumping the waves or riding them in on rafts.)

For a number of years we went over Thanksgiving and the weather was about the same. I think that you must have just hit a bad year.

The temperature is constantly in the 80s.

You'll find that the rates are considerably better in November. They go up around Dec. 15th.

Shelly :-)

Thanks. That is what I thought and I do think we hit a bad year. I'll be there around Christmas. Yes, even last Thanksgiving, the water was still 80degress. Thanks again.

Westin---12-15 to 12-22. We have always stayed at the Westin as we like its location, Eats across te street and the convenience to some decent restaurants. Still, need a cab for the favorites but my wife and I are beach lovers who spend most of time on beach and reading in the sun. Cooling off in pool and ocean. Yes, expensive--but what isn't on the island. We have goneat least once a year for eight years--generally at T'giving.

I'm sure you'll like those dates.

We are going to be on the other side of the island at Kaibo condos for the second time after spending 30+ years at a condo that was destroyed by Ivan on SMB.

We love EATS and do miss all the restaurants on your side. But my husband likes the peace and quiet on the other side--more like the Cayman of our earlier days. This year though, I'm going to make him go over to your side and visit some of our friends on SMB.

Hope you have a great vacation. I'm watching our countdown!

Shelly :-)
