My husband and I are celebrating our 4 year anniversary and combining it with taking a honeymoon that we never had. We're going to be staying at the Marriott from September 4th to September 8th. We're going to do the Atlantis semi-sub and we'd really like to see the Botanical Gardens and do a Sunset Cruise. We're going to rent a car on one of the days to see the Gardens and do the sunset cruise. And maybe drive around the island a little bit. If anyone can tell me if we can fit that into one day I'd appreciate it. Also, it's our anniversary on the 7th, so we'd like to go someplace nice. I don't eat seafood, so someplace that serves more than that would be great. Any suggestions? If anyone has any suggestions on one or two other things we absolutely have to do, please let me know. Thanks!

nightwingz,

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your upcoming anniversary!

As for renting a car, consider using Andy's or Economy... just

regarding contact information and obtaining a CAG discount.

Atlantis submarine, a visit to te Botanical Gardens and some driving around the Island followed by a sunset cruise, although doable, may be a little ambitious for one day. You can see the Botanical Gardens early in the morning (as it gets warm later in the day), then perhaps a drive to Rum Point. As for an absolute Must Do, then go to Stingray City with Soto's. Another unique experience is a beautiful horseback ride along the beach followed by swimming a horse with Pampered Ponies

As for a unique dining experience, in addition to our recommended restaurants, consider a private table on the beach at Hemmingway's at the Hyatt.

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary last month with a private table on the beach, and it was a magically romantic evening... it is absolutely wonderful!

Enjoy!

Congratulations on celebrating your 4 year anniversary and you are in for a honeymoon of your life!

The Marriott is a great pick. Is it the Beach Resort or Courtyard? Both are fabulous.

The Atlantis semi-sub is a great choice. I enjoyed this last visit to Grand Cayman. The Botanical Gardens is a Must see and these two can easily be combined in a day. Along the way to the botanical garden you can stop at Smiths Cove and Cathy Church?s underwater gallery.

All restaurants recommended here serve more then just fish. Here are our Top Picks according to price Click Here for:Restaurant Choices

If you keep the car for the 4 days I would recommend Papagallos for your Anniversary Dinner.

I would highly recommend a relaxing and personal experience with Soto's Cruises or OH Boy Charters, this is one of Grand Caymans most valuable activities. Click Here for:

Sting Ray City

Also this activity will give what Cayman is most known for-Click Here for: Dive

Thanks for the info jpep and SHELLNNYNJ. From the recommendations you've made I think that we'll definitely be doing Atlantis semi sub and the Botanical Gardens on one day, and then I think that we'll go to Rum Point and the Sunset Cruise the next day. I'd love to go to Stingray City but I can't swim, so I'm a little nervous about doing that. I've already looked into a rental car through Andy's and I'll get a good CAG discount so that's definitely and option. We'll be staying at the Marriott Beach Resort and I'm wondering if anyone can tell me how close that is to the Hyatt? The sunset cruise departs from there. As for our anniversary I'll be looking into both Papagallos and a private table on the beach at Hemingways (we won't be there Friday night for the Marriott dinner option). I'll have to ask my husband what he prefers, or maybe I'll just surprise him. Smile

The Marriott Beach Resort (not the Courtyard Marriott), is a a leisurely 10 minute walk to the Hyatt. Note that if you are considering Hemmingway's private table on the beach, since there is only one seting per night, you must reserve in advance to ensure availability. Hemmingway's daily main menu, its daily specials menu, and the the Tapas menu include an amazing variety of dishes, with sufficient selections for those that do not prefer seafood.

Even though you cannot swim, the Stingray City sandbar where you have the opportunity to interract with docile stingrays is about 4 feet deep, and thus you can stand. The other stop on is at the Coral Gardens where guests snorkel. Should you not wish to do so, you can relax on the boat and take in the view.

Just some thoughts.

Nightwingz,

Please do Stingray City. I have the same problem as you and I WAS ABLE to do the trip. The boats get you as close as possible and you can stand. I'm only 5 ' tall but even I could stand. If for some reason you do need to "swim" it will only be for a few feet and then just use a life vest. Don't feel embarrassed about it...............I thought I was going to be but then it was either that or miss out on a wonderful opportunity.

You can do it ThumbsUp plus hubby will be very proud of you. I know my family was.

We are also celebrating our 4 year anniversary in GC!!! but you will be gone by the time we arrive. We are staying at the Hyatt. We usually dive, but will be traveling with our 17 month old, so I don't think we will get one in this time...maybe next.

Happy Anniversary!
